Team Shanghai Alice is a doujin game company that was founded by ZUN, its sole member. It is primarily known for its series of vertical danmaku ("manic") shoot 'em ups, called "Touhou Project" (also known as the "Shrine Maiden Project." Only the games after the fifth were released under this studio. The previous games were developed by ZUN while he worked at Amusement Makers, and were made for the Japanese NEC PC-9801 series of computers.

Subterranean Animism (Japanese: "Touhou Chireiden") is the eleventh game in the Touhou series of manic shoot 'em ups. Like the previous game, Mountain of Faith, collecting power-ups increases the number of "options" around your character (which can be sacrificed as bombs). However, the scoring is based around the concept of "grazing" bullets by flying close to them, which increases the amount of points you can receive.

Mountain of Faith (Japanese: "Touhou Fuujinroku") is the tenth game in the Touhou series of manic shoot 'em ups. Compared to some of the previous games, MoF is relatively straightforward. There are two characters in the game, each with 3 fire modes to choose from. In a break from previous games, in Mof collecting power-ups can increase the number of "options" around your character, up to four, and using a bomb sacrifices one of these options. Scoring is based around a "Faith" value, which is increased by collecting Faith items.

Phantasmagoria of Flower View (Japanese: "Touhou Kaeidzuka") is the ninth game in the Touhou series of manic shoot 'em ups. A departure from the previous Shanghai Alice games, PoFV is a splitscreen versus battle against either a computer or human player (in "Match Mode"), ala Twinkle Star Sprites (Neo Geo/PS2). Certain actions will create bullet patterns on your opponent's side, and you can also cast spells to throw complex patterns at him or her.

Imperishable Night (Japanese: "Touhou Eiyashou") is the eighth game in the Touhou series of manic shoot 'em ups. In the game, you pick between 4 teams, each comprised of a human character (controlled when unfocused) and a ghost (controlled during focused-fire mode). The two characters can have very different attacks, and certain enemies are more vulnerable to one character or the other.

Perfect Cherry Blossom (Japanese: "Touhou Youyoumu") is the seventh game in the Touhou series of manic shoot 'em ups, and is probably the best known. Like its predecessor, the game has two firing modes and gives the player a limited supply of Spell Card "bombs." However, PCB introduces "Cherry Points," which are earned by shooting enemies and lost by using bombs or dying. The more Cherry Points you have, the more points you gain from point items, and at a certain level you receive a shield. PCB also displays your hitbox when you are in focused-fire mode, another innovation on the previous game.

There are 3 playable characters to choose from, each with their own unique strengths and Spell Cards. The game features 6 stages and 2 unlockable secret stages.
