Game Description

Ablation is a low-resolution shoot 'em up. The player can target an enemy's payload (displayed as white pixels), or its core (a black "X"), which will destroy the enemy instantly. Occasionally these enemies will drop power-ups and bombs when destroyed.

It was created for a Retro Remakes "TI Calculator" Competition.

Fairly standard vertical SHMUP, except for the black and white mechanic in the enemies. Each enemy has white areas which they use as projectiles by launching them at you. Each enemy has a limited amount of these areas, and these areas can be destroyed. The black areas serve as a shield and must be destroyed before you can hit the bit’s behind them. Other than that, the black bits of the enemies aren’t harmful to the player.

The games got a nice, if simple, visual style and is fairly fun, although it takes a bit longer than I’d like to ramp up the difficulty.
