When a puzzle game can keep you entranced long enough to actually want to go through and beat it, it’s certainly doing something right.
While it might not seem like it’s pulling anything new off it certainly does feel very creative. It forces you to think a bit outside the box with the necessity to place blocks with your mouse and making you use your enemy to help get through whatever level you may be on.
The music is nice and helps to aid the feel of the game but I think what hinders the game is that it won’t hold much appeal to people who aren’t big into puzzle games. While it’s hard for a game to extend it’s appeal to those who may not be so fond of it’s genre, that’s what can truly end up making a game great.
If you enjoy puzzle games, then you’ll more than likely enjoy Castle of Elite quite a bit. If you don’t though you may find yourself a bit bored after a few levels.
