<body>This game is quite possibly one of the most unique and best I've played in a damn long time. Like TeeGee mentions; you don't have to worry about losing health if you smack into one of the obese abominations or the creepy infants. You can keep all of yr focus on keeping away from the edges and blasting them all away.

I give the game a 5/5 hands down. Don't be scared by it's simplicity. Chances are you won't make it far at all.</body>

<body>That 3.8 does not give it justice. This game is the first game in the horror genre that instead of just attacking me with relentless 'scary' things, had slow, creeping horror that I've ever played. I enjoyed the hell out of this game. I recommend it for anyone with an IQ over 5.</body>

<body>It was helpful of CID to headline his review accurately. He has always been horribly misguided :-)

everything these good people (and Damon) says is true. Its a great game. Of course it doesnt do everything for everybody but Darkwind has maintained my interest for over a year and I am normally more of a FPS player!

The thing that has kept me playing is the ability to customise models in the game by skinning both vehicles and characters. subscribers get slots to upload their own paint jobs for their vehicles. With even a basic understanding of image manipulation programmes like Photoshop or GIMP you can turn your death dealing post apocalyptic war machines into YOUR death dealing etc etc etc.

There is even a very helpful tutorial in the Darkwind Wiki to get you started.

darkwind is agame with wide appeal. I have spent a few days trying some of the other games listed on this site and whilst many have been excellent none have come close in terms of scale, physics, interactivity, graphics, community.....

when you sonsider it is made by one developer and some volunteers its a work of genius... twisted evil genius... but genius none the less.</body>

<body>This is an insanely addictive game, and you can play it for free to a limited extent. I reviewed this one for Bytten (http://www.bytten.com/gamereview.php?id=308) and I won't repeat it all here - but I will mention this small snippet:

"This isn't so much a game as a whole world, and the developers are making it bigger all the time. The community that Darkwind has attracted is the real lifeblood for the game and their feedback and enthusiasm keeps it fresh."

Manage your gang across an entire continent. Buy, sell, win and maintain fleets of vehicles that can be used for travel/trade, hunting pirates or entering professional events. Join races, deathraces, combat events and even paintball matches. Scout the wilderness with other gangs. There are even player-run camps! This is a very well balanced game when you're established, if somewhat hard to get started with - new players are advised to learn the ropes with in-town events and only venture out with experienced vets.</body>

<body>Having been a subscriber to Darkwind since Feb 2007, I can say with certainty that you will NOT find a more addictive online game than Darkwind!

From my first race in 2007 to the present, Darkwind has grown far beyond my personal expectations of the game. I NEVER expected to be held by a game this long! Even my PS2 does not get as much game play as Darkwind does in my house!

Most of the descriptions you can read here of the game are accurate and to the point so I won't bore the readers with a long-winded hype description of a game you SHOULD try for yourself!

In ALL online communities you will find griefers of all kinds and Darkwind is no different. The only difference is that the ones that DO show up in the Darkwind Lobby or forums don't last long because we as a community are more mature than they are and we know what they are up to and as such they get tired of debating losing verbal battles against our community of well schooled, well spoken individuals!

One player said it quite succinctly....

"It's easy to win a war of wits with an unarmed opponent!"

Read all you can about Darkwind and make your own decision whether this game is for you. I'm sure you'll find the "Pros" will outweigh any "Cons" you may have read on any review post.

"Your scouting event is about to start, did you remember reloads?"

The community of Darkwind awaits you!</body>
