<body>Cubes is exactly what the description says: "a 3d Tron-style multiplayer game" and nothing more. But that doesn't mean it's bad. For those who are not familiar with the original Tron, you're in a transportation device that leaves a solid trail behind it. And by solid, I mean rock solid. The goal is to survive as much as you can without crashing into others' or your own trail. Now Cubes makes the game first-person, and adds a third dimension to the game, allowing you to go up and down, as well as left and right. The play-area is relatively small, if you leave through one border, you get back in through another (e.g. Asteroids), but that only makes the rounds tighter and more fun, since in only a matter of seconds, the trails will be everywhere, leaving it to your maneuvering skills. There's also the addition of shooting, you can shoot the other players with your lasers, or the rockets you pick up during the round, which you can also use to tear down those trail-walls.
There aren't many servers or people online, but a game with 3 or 4 people is fun enough to play. There isn't much lag, either. If you're looking for a fun small game for your old PC, Cubes is a good way to go.</body>
