Game DescriptionDemocracy puts you in control of a modern country. The object of the game is to stay in power as long as possible by winning elections every four years. To do this, you must enact policies that appeal to different groups of voters, such as patriots, socialists, and the poor. Policies have far-reaching effects, so careful consideration is necessary to avoid running the country into the ground. |

This game is a lot like its sequel, Democracy 2 — I can’t really think of much reason to play the first one over the second one. In some games the first one is better, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for political simulation games or strategy games in general.
Most of my comments in my Democracy 2 review also apply to this game, especially that it feels like balancing the happinesses of different interest groups rather than shaping a country to your whims, and I’d prefer to do the latter than the former.
