Final Ninja is quite a fun game. In it, you play a ninja (of course). Available to you are throwing stars, which you can also use as a grappling hook. You also have the ability to wall jump and go invisible (however, you can’t move or shoot while invisible). You have a large enough set of abilities at your disposal that most of the challenges can be solved in multiple ways. You could use your invisibility to healthfully sneak past obstacles, you could use your wall jumps and grappling hooks to maneuver around them, or you could kill them with your ninja stars.

The visuals are quite nice, with smooth animations. The visual effect for your invisibility, and even more so the visual effect for turning off your invisibility, is a really nice touch. Your invisibility works by blending yourself with the backdrop, so when you go out of invisibility mode, whatever backdrop you were in front of while invisible fades away from your character as his original image fades back into view.

My one complaint with the gameplay is that the jumping is rather floaty. This is especially noticeable during wall jumps, which lack the sudden burst of momentum that they should have. It feels less like your jumping off the wall and more like you’re just moving away from it, and getting a bit of upwards momentum in the process.

The main thing I like about the game is the freedom it gives you in solving your problems. Even the detection lasers, which you’re supposed to stealth past, only call in enemies rather than kill or damage you. If you fail at stealth, you still have combat available to you. This, combined with the nice art and music, make a fun ninja game.

Final Ninja is this action-platformer where you play as this ninja named Takeshi, who is on a “final mission” to stop his former master, Akuma, who is the evil mastermind, behind the sinister plans. The game is simple, yet quite fun! It uses the arrow keys and the mouse, as the controls.
