If there wasn’t any Gish, I would probably never find out what independent gaming is.I can’t say whether my opinion is biased or not, but Gish is for me a legendary game, one of the best ever.
Gish is a perfect example of what game should look like – you get a solid gameplay, which works pretty much on its own, and in addition awesome music and graphics plus few more additions such as multiplayer on one computer.
The gameplay is based on physics and it is amazing what jumps you can execute once you get used to it. There are four main abilities – Gish can jump, stick to objects, or become harder or softer. With these four, once you find out how to use them, you can throw stones, crush enemies’ heads, or just run through the level as fast as you can.
The levels are also very decent. Nothing breathtaking as for graphics, but the level design is exactly what it should be when you have a ball of tar with these abilities.
And, as I already mentioned, you still get some extras (multiplayer can be fun for more than just hours), some secrets and one of the best game’s music I know.
