5 I never knew it could be fun to watch yourself die
I Wanna Be the Guy isn’t a game for everyone, for the simply fact that you’ll die for an insane number of times.
There are, however, two main qualities about this game.
First is fun. It can seem stupid to enoy an annoying game like this, but when you put yourself in sarcastic mode, you’ll really laugh at the different kinds of deaths you’ll go trough.
And the second reason to play this game is pretty much obvious – it IS challenge. Hardcore players like challenge, they like the vision of holy grail waiting at the end of insanely hard game. And that’s why I give this game five stars, cause if you’re hardcore, you’ll really enjoy this uncommon masochistic platformer.

The reason I love this game isn’t the high difficulty bar. It’s rare that you play a game in which every single screen contains some unique gameplay element, which I remember Kayin saying was one of his goals for this game. As a result, exploration is really fun, because who knows what crazy thing might be lurking one screen over? (And believe me, it’s always crazy!)

3 Art?
They say the difference between art and entertainment is that entertainment exists to fulfill our expectations, while art exists to break them. If that’s the case, this game should be hanging in the Louvre. This game will take everything you’ve learned from playing games and smack you in the face with it.
The production values aren’t great, and the gameplay is classic Gamemaker, but IWBTG has its charms, and you’ll definitely laugh between bouts of tearing your hair from your head. Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but definitely a curiosity that should be tried at least once.
5 More than just masocore
When I first played this around when it was initially released, I didn’t ‘get it.’ I thought this was simply a hardcore platformer with quirky references to other games and a good amount of polish. Yet how could I come to terms with that when literally millions have enjoyed this game through gameplay or videos?
I returned to it several years later to try to understand. It really is a game about expectations. But I think, despite that being the standard description of this game, people don’t give full credit or have a full understanding of how powerful that is and how well this game executes that. It is a game that plays with you. You don’t simply play it. It’s mean, funny and most importantly, it gets you. It knows what you’re thinking and has the same taste in games as you. It is familiar and despite it’s cruelty, really wants you to succeed and show you a good time. So man up and download it.
5 I wanna be the boar
Pattern memorization at its best.
Its random and fun and very challenging at first until you memorize the patterns. Don’t expect much out of it, just a gut wrenching good time wasting game.
I give it a 5/5.
