Tyranid 2 "Mediocre Game"? "Intentionally Bad Game That Really Isn't That Terrible"?
I admit being a little bit disappointed with Shit Game, less because of the shortcomings of the game and more because it was actually a bit enjoyable. I downloaded it expecting a half-playable jumble of screens, horrendous physics, and graphics that a third grader could’ve done a better job on, and I found a decent game experience packed in with “screw it let’s just scribble it in” imagery.

Thoughtful analysis begins here.

While “keep holding jump and you pass through it” floors are a mark of amateurism in Game Maker titles normally, in this title it’s actually used to great effect. The pass-through-floors are your way up, and up, all the way to the top of the game world where your goal awaits. The controls are decent, animation isn’t too shabby, and not once will you get really frustrated and slam your keyboard into the wall.

The downsides of this game are really threefold. One, it’s not as bad as advertised, for the gawkers and trolls among us. Two, it’s abysmally short. Four to six minutes, and you’ve beaten it, nothing more to see. Three, there isn’t any replay value whatsoever, unless it’s introducing a friend to it to see their reaction, which would probably be pretty muted. The pastiche of detached, floating body parts and mismatched ground segments may be amusing, but it never quite reaches dream-state surreality.

I didn’t quite regret the time I spent playing Shit Game, but I wonder if I’d have been more satisfied if I did.
