Game Description

Space Tripper is a 3d arena-shmup inspired from Williams arcade classic, Defender (1980). In the game you can fire in one of two directions, and you have two weapons: a straight-firing blue gun and an orange spread gun. The guns can be power-upped separately.

Space Tripper features 14 levels, spread over 4 beautiful worlds, with a giant boss at the end of each world.

Picture_11 4 Solid Defenderish Gameplay, meet glowy particle extravaganza
Space Tripper and Mutant Storm ushered in the era of retro gameplay combined with abstract graphics — and obscene amounts of additively blended particle effects.

I actually like Space Tripper and its Defender-inspired gameplay a little more than Mutant Storm. It’s solid, fun, and interesting nice to look at.

Again, Pom Pom was ahead of their time with these games, now 7 years old. They were some of the first indies I can remember to really take advantage of the blending tricks available with OpenGL.
