This game has been described as a massively multiplayer online screensaver: it’s a peaceful place that your computer takes you to occasionally, where deer with human faces play, all controlled by a real person. Without the ability to talk to each other, they can only invent games, like chasing each other or running around each other.
There are no goals, challenges, or anything like that, it’s just a place to appreciate beauty with other people in silence – being able to talk to them would ruin it, just as talking to people about a powerful emotion that you both are experiencing ruins it. And sure, going to a real forest with someone might be a good alternative, but not everyone has forests nearby, and this is more convenient.
My only complaint (although this doesn’t keep it from full marks) is that it requires a very beefy computer to play, a strong 3D card is a must. With my NVIDIA 8500 GT, which is (as of 2009) current generation but not a “gamer’s” card, I don’t achieve 30 fps.
