The Spirit Engine

The Spirit Engine is a simple and charming side-scrolling RPG with interesting characters, pretty unique setting, and a bit quirky combat system.

It’s not as polished or pretty as the recently released sequel, and the trademark character interactions are not as deep. But for a freeware title, it’s still a very nice game, if you don’t mind the slightly unintuitive combat system.

If you want to spend around 8 hours with a nice quality rpg, you can go much worse than TSE. Especially with it being totally free.

And if you like it, be sure to check the sequel too.

I agree with TeeGee, it’s a nice little quality game,

the only problems I’ve had with it is crashing for me several times after combat and I still haven’t found any reason for why.

but I would still say it’s worth the time.
