The average rating of this game is pretty low, and I can see how it’s not a game that everyone can appreciate, but I enjoyed it. It’s a nice frantic shooter where on average you will die in the first few seconds. You only get one life, so expect to see hundreds of game overs before you get good at it. But once you do get good at it, you can survive, for maybe ten or twenty seconds.

What I like about this game is that there’s no slow build up time. Most arena shooters, like Echoes or Geometry Wars for instance, take minutes to play, you can play it for five or even ten minutes before it gets to the really challenging parts. But with this game, the game throws everything at you right from the start, there’s no slow build up time, it’s really challenging and cuts right to the “good” part of a shmup: the part where you’re frantically just on the edge of death.

I like this game for the same reason I like Shoot the Bullet — it forces you into full awareness, you can’t sleep through it. You can’t blink, you can’t even reduce your attention for a moment, you literally have to put your brain in hyper-awareness mode in order to survive. It’s not for everyone, but it’s for me.
